Summary:
Over the course of the book’s 317 pages, Ćosić-Vukić analyses the intellectual, political and the broadest social circumstances surrounding the regime’s suppression of the critically oriented periodical JAVNOST [THE PUBLIC] in the year of Josip Broz’s death. The editorial staff, featuring Ljubomir Tadić, Dobrica Ćosić, Svetozar Stojanović, Zoran Đinđić, Nebojša Popov, Lazar Trifunović, Zoran Gavrilović, Vojislav Stojanović and Dušan Bošković, through their activities and correspondence, left a testimony of striving for democratisation in the early 1980’s and the regime’s efforts aimed at suppressing such tendencies.
